This poem was written in reflection of events that happened in my life over the year 2021 AD, a year I feel was pivotal in my personal, academic, and spiritual growth and expansion as a creative. This piece was originally written on December 23rd, 2021.

Oh you who sat

In your homely abode.

Come let me tell you,

Please take my load.

See how I have

Carried this year

A pain too hard.

‘Twas a pain too dear.

Come first, have rest,

your troubles will surely not end.

As soon as you dump the first,

You went onto the next.

You foolish one. Realize

How you will cost yourself.

For the second came mighty

Engulfing you in a mist,

An ecstasy of lovers,

Dreamers for it exist.

Marching through

Climbing high

You sought friendship

Given by One on High

You were never alone,

And thinking you were,

The proof came and

Blessings did confer.

You labored forth and

Brought new things forth

For mightily in the fourth

Your hands did work well

And you saw their face

And felt their embrace

Tell your heart “brace!”

It will not be well.

Joy came and you

Did return back home.

All your memories came.

Unrest crept, nothing is home.

No soon did you fly

And came back to cry

Lonely will you be

Lonely you will die.

Silence. What a mystery

You fight against your history

Against yourself,

and who you see in

The Mirror of your futility

In the toxic assembly.

You wished to work, and

Pray you did

Till heaven gave

Unto you a hint

And so you began

To find meaning anew

You struggled, fought

Your heart ripped in two

Who will mend

Who will pay

Who can redeem

And save your day

Insufferable you are

And have been to me

A great formidable

Enemy.

Retaliation strikes

And you blow back

Can the enemy strike

The broken back?

From suffering to

Insufferable falls

Can one really measure

How far you’ve gone?

When it ends, remember

That night may delay

Morning will dawn

A beautiful day.
